What to say
My hubby and I were invited over to some friends and he is slowly dying of bone cancer. He continues to smile and try but what do you say? You wouldn't wish this on your worse enemy much less a friend and what's more we don't get to choose so who knows...you or I could be next. True, this isn't exactly an uplifting post but then sometimes life is just hard.

I hope the evening went well and your visit will mean more to them than any words. Prince's father Lewis died of bone cancer back in 1975 and thanks be to God that they have better meds to deal with this awful disease in 2008.

What do you say? I think, just come at the invitation and smile. In other words, there is nothing anyone can say. But if he is still smiling, then it must make his time better, to have friends over. Maybe say what you would have said, were he not so ill? I don't know. But it does seem, that to just be there, is good.
Yes, life is tough. Yes, we all hope for good things and health. But they don't always stay around. 'Tis best to face the facts. And maybe, cherish the good stuff, more. When it's with us...
